Hi Lisa,
Do you have any resources or suggestions for transitioning a 2.5 year old to sleeping on their own in the family bed? Previously she has been rocked or nursed to sleep, which although it’s currently working for us, it has big challenges-sometimes taking hours to get her to sleep. We practice RIE in all other areas of parenting. We know RIE agrees with the Ferber method however we are unsure if that will work with a 2 year old. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! We are starting a care share situation in a few days (with myself as the care provider) and it would really help if our daughter could fall asleep on her own.
Also curious if you are holding any virtual classes during shelter in place and if any pertain to sleep.
Thank you kindly!
Kristina
Hi Kristina,
I wouldn’t actually recommend Ferber, and you should be aware that there are no quick fixes. Dr. Jay Gordon has an article that has been helpful to many families who want to change patterns in the family bed. I also offer Sleep Consultations and you can also get help by joining my parent discussion and support group Respect From Birth, which is on Mighty Networks.
Help… my daughter won’t let me wash her hair! It has been almost a year. I have tried rewards chart, showing dolls being washed, forcing is screaming and kicking. Asking, requesting, verbal preparing in advance doesn’t work. She knows she can go to underwater aquarium if she washes her hair, she’s hanging to go but won’t give in. She will be 3 in a week.
I’d suggest trying a dry shampoo. Also, it can be helpful to figure out why washing her hair is so uncomfortable for her.
